CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES OARLAW PARK ATTRACTIONS MANUKAU AND RICHMOND Keen interest will centre in the sixth series of matches in the first round of the Auckland Kugby League's senior championship, which will he played at Carlmv Park this afternoon. The series will provide the last club games prior to the New Zealand team's tour of Australia. Fast and exciting fool ball should be witnessed in the meeting of Richmond and Manukau in the principal match. The latter is always a popular attraction nt headquarters and will he keen to lower the colours of last season's championship winners. If Manukau receives a fair share of the hall from the scrums it should he difficult to defeat. Tho Richmond defence, however, is sound and a little improvement in team play will probablv carry it (o victory. Jf tho ground and weather conditions are favourable the best football of the season to date should be witnessed. An interesting curtain-raiser should be pro vided by Newton and Ponsonby. The former Is at present lending in the championship and may find stronger opposition than is generally anticipated. The chief match on the No. 2 ground is between Marist and City. North Shore and Pap'akura will contest the curtainraiser.
