GAMING HOUSE CHARGES
POLICE RAID AT TAIHAPE FOUR MEN REMANDED [bt telegraph—own correspondent] TAIHAPE, Fridifv Following a police raid conducted by Detective J. Murray, Wanganui, and members of the Taihape and Mangaweka police force, Alan Harcourt Smith and Norman Phillip Sisson were charged in the Taihape Magistrate's Court yesterday afternoon with carrying 011 the business of a bookmaker, while John Joseph Ryan faced a charge of keeping a common gaming house at Taihape, and Thomas Lucas was charged with assisting in conducting the business of a common gaming house.
On the application of the police the defendants were remanded to appear before a magistrate 011 June 2. Bail was allowed each defendant on his own security of £SO.
