ATTRACTIVE RENDEZVOUS
BERKELEY CAFE LOUNGE Probably unique as far na the Dominion is concerned, the Berkeley Cafe Lounge, an attractive social rendezvous attached to the Berkeley Theatre, Mission Bay, will be opened to the public from noon to-day. The lounge is on the first floor at the front of the theatre and is approached through the theatre entranco and foyers. ; . - Less than -10 minutes run from the city, the lounge will be open-from noon to midnight daily, including Sundays, and will provide luncheons, teas and suppers. It is also the intention of the management to specialise in catering for wedding breakfasts and bridge, birthday, children's and other private parties. With its luxurious modern furnishings and appointments, the lounge reflects an atmosphere of comfort and cheerfulness. At the foot of a short flight of carpeted steps leading from dress-circle foyer are grouped deep armchairs and settees which extend back to a wide log fire, in the outer wall. Tea and supper tables are placed at either end of the lounge, and provision is made in one corner for an orchestra. Colours have been chosen with commendable taste, the prevailing shades being dark cream, jade green and rust. Ornamentation includes wall tapestries, etchings, and pleasing electric light shades of novel design. Further effects have been achieved by the skilful placing of ferns and small shrubs in boxes. In addition to tho furnishings and appointments, however, "the attractiveness of the lounge is greatly enhanced by the delightful harbour view obtained from the spacious windows.
