INSULATING DOMINION CHALLENGE TO MR. NASH PRODUCTION OF LABOUR PLAN [BY TELEGRAPH —rRKSS association] WELLINGTON, Friday A challenge to the Minister of Finance, the Hon. \V. Nash, to state whether tho Government had a plan which could insulate New Zealand against the effects of a fall in overseas prices, was made by the president of the National Party, Mr. C. H. Weston, when addressing the women's section of the party at Wellington to-night. "Mr. Nash is speaking at Lower Hutt next Monday night," said Mr. Weston. "Will ho answer my question?" Mr. Weston quoted as follows from a recent speech by the Prime Minister, tho lit. Hon. M. J. Savage:—"Even if there is any recession overseas, Labour's policy is being framed to avert the effects from being imposed on tho people of this country. Should such an occurrence again afflict the world, and I see no reason why it should, then I can assure you there will be no better test of the success or failure of our policy. We have our plans ready. They are both eomprehensivo and detailed." "This," Mr. Weston said, "could only mean, and was obviously intended to mean, that tho Government had already' devised means of sparing Now Zealand from the disastrous effects of a fall in prices for produce shipped overseas."
