raan Sea: Light to moderate east to north-east winds and slight to moderate seas in the northern portion, and moderate to strong north-westerlies and rough seas in the southern portion. The weather is likely to bo cloudy to overcast in the western and southern districts of the South Island, with scattered rains in southern "NVestland and Otago and Southland, elsewhere fair to fine. A milder day, but cold night temperatures with some frosts. SPECIAL AUCKLAND FORECAST FAIR TO FINE AND MILDER The Government meteorologist issued to the Herald last evening the following special forecast for the Auckland Province: —Light south-easterly wind» gradually tending to north-east. The weather is likely to be fair to fine and rather milder. Seas slight to moderate. YESTERDAY'S WEATHER Fine, bracing weather prevailed in Auckland yesterday with a light to moderate south-easterly wind.. The maximum temperatureijKvas 60 degree* and the minimum 49 degrees. Christchurch. —The weather was fine and sunny with a very light northeast breeze. There was a frost of 11 degrees on Wednesday night and the maximum temperature yesterday was . 56 degrees.
