STATION SITE CHANGED
TOWN OF KAIKOURA CHOSEN SMALLER CONSTRUCTION COSTS [BT TELEGRAPH OWN CORRESPONDENT] CHRISTCHURCH, Thnrsday The Government has now decided that the large railway station to be built at Kaikoura on the South Island Main Trunk will bo erected in the township, and not, as was formerly intended, nearly two miles away. The decision follows strong representations made to the authorities by interested organisations in Kaikoura, which have protested vigorously against the plan to build the station so far away from the township. . The change in plans involves the lengthening of tlie route of the railway along this section, but it has been found that the new route will allow a fairly big saving in construction costs, so that the decision to alter the station site has pleased all parties interested.
