SOCCER GAME

MATCH AGAINST NAVY i 1 REPRESENTATIVE FIXTURE CHAMPIONSHIP CONTESTS The opening representative fixture of tho Soccer season will be staged tomorrow, when Auckland will play the Navy in the first of a series of three games for a special trophy. In view of the fact that the senior championship games will be held in conjunction, the selector has not boen able to field a team fully representative of Auckland's strength, but a very useful combination lias been assembled, which should prove a good match for the Navy. Judging by reports, the Navy side, which has been practising assiduously, will be a powerful one, comprising players of speed and cleverness.

An attractive curtain-raiser has been arranged at Blandford Park between Thistle and Abels, the two unbeaten teams in the senior championship. Thistle plays a mora studied type of football than its opponents, but Abels has exploited open methods with marked success to date and must be given a (rood chance of victory. Onehunga showed slight improvement last week and may make a better showing against Ponsonby on tho Onehunga ground, while Eastern Suburbs and North Shoro should provide an interesting struggle at St. Holiers. Thero should bo little to choose between Comrades and Metro-College in tho game at Western Springs. Both clubs have shown good form in championship games to date. Mount Albert Grammar Old Boys will meet Y.M.C.A'. at Fowld's Park. Following aro tho teams for the representative fixture:— AUCKLAND Goalkeeper.—Mills. Fullbacks.—Stono, McKenna. Halves.—Sale, Bowmer, Jones. Forwards.—Burton, McCallum, Jopson, Farnan. Needham. NAVY Goalkeeper.—Yeomans. Fullbacks.—Wakefield, Mackenzie. Halves.—Massey, Derbyshire, Robinson.
