MANY CANDIDATES
POWER BOABD SEATS NOMINATIONS TOTAL 33 ELECTION ON MAY 25 FIRST UNDER NEW FRANCHISE A total of 33 candidates has been nominated for the 12 • seats on the Auckland Electric-Power Board which will bo contested at tho election on Wednesday, Hay 25. This will be the first election under the board's new franchise which gives voting rights to all in the district entitled to vote in the municipal elections. Formerly the poll was restricted to ratepayers. As a consequence about 130,000 persons will be entitled to vote, compared with less than half that number previously. All tho present members of the board are offering themselves for reelection, with the exception of Mr. R. G. Clark. Nominations, which closed with tho returning officer, Mr. N. M.
