CANDIDATE FOR KAIPARA [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT ] DARGAVILLE, Thursday Rumours that the Labour caudidate for the Kaipara seat, Mr. P. McG. Stewart, was retiring from the contest in favour of the Independent candidate, Mr. J. Scott Davidson, were denied by Mr. Stewart when questioned on the subject. "In all probability the rumours are the outcome of the fact that several meetings 1 had advertised to be held in the vicinity of Dargaville were cancelled," said Mr. Stewart. "It is not the habit of the New Zealand Labour Party to withdraw a candidate once he lias been nominated, and I have absolutely no intention of retiring.
