TOC H MOVEMENT

WOMEN HELPERS' LEAGUE EXPLANATION OF AIMS "Our aim is to win men's friendship and their service, to open their eves to see the world as it should be, and as it may be, and to inspire them to do something about it," said Miss Helen Benhow, general secretary of tlie Toe H League of Women Helpers, when speaking at the business girls' luncheon yesterday.

Miss Benhow explained that Toe H stood for Talbot House, which had been used as a rest home behind the front line, during the war. There was an atmosphere of homeliness about Talbot House which was missing from most of the rest houses. Men of all ranks met as friends. As this fellowship seemed lacking in peace time, the men banded together and started several houses on similar lines. The younger generation was as enthusiastic as the ex-service men about the movement.

"These houses provide a focus point for their energies and help to break the barriers of class consciousness," continued Miss Benbow. "The women helped from the beginning. Afterward they realised that there was the same need for their own sex. Now the two organisations work side by side."
