OBITUARY
MR. G. A. M. BEERE The death has occurred of Mr. George Archdall Montgomery Bcere, of To Fapapa, in his 70th year, Mr. Bcere was born at Swansea, Wales, and arrived at Auckland in the sailing ship Lady Jocelvn in 1888. He was emplovcd for a time as a seaman on the steamer Gairloch on the Onehunga-New Plymouth run. After carrying on dairyfarming and flaxmilling for some time Mr. Ikcre was engaged in shearing in Australia. On his return to New Zealand in 1904 ho acted at various times as manager of huttor factories. In 1911 ho joined the Department of Agriculture, first as dairy inspector, and later as meat inspector. Subsequently lie was appointed stock inspector in the Auckland district, and ho retired from this positron about four vears ago. Mr. Beerc is survived by his wifo and one daughter. MR. A. 0. SYMONS [from our own correspondent] "WHANGAREI, Tuesday The death has occurred of Mr. A. C. Symons, engineer to tho Whangarei Hospital Board, Born in Auckland 52 vears ago, Mr. Symons was apprenticed as an engineer at George Eraser's foundry, l'or many years ho was in business in Itawene, Hokianga, on his own account, and later was engineer at tho Hokianga Hospital, before coming to tho Whangarei Hospital about 15 years ago. He was a prominent member of the Whangarei Masonic Lodge. Ho is survived by his wifo, two daughters and two sons.
