TOBACCO GROWING
PONQAKAWA VALLEY - PRODUCTION OF 15 TONS [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] TE PUKE, Wednesday The tobacco grown in the Pongakawa Valley, near To Puke, this year is reported to be of a reasonably good quality. The total production ia about 15 tons. It has been stored in 4U barns Fluing has been undertaken, but it is not yet. known whether the tobacco will bo graded at Pongakawa or sent away to the Government graders. Tho grqinula have now been stripped of tho tobacco plants, ploughed and sown in clover in preparation for next season.
