FATAL WOUND IN HEAD

RETIRED BUSINESS MAN [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] OAMARU, Monday The death occurred yesterday morning at the Oamaru Hospital of Mr. Robert Buchanan Irvine, a well-known businessman in Oamaru for .30 years, who retired a few months ago. Deceased loft home about 6.30 on Saturday night, but as he had not returned bv 9.30 p.m. a search was instituted and he was found at the Columba lawn, tennis courts with a gunshot wound in his head and a rifle beside his body. He was taken to hospital, where he died four hours later. Mr. Irvine at one time represented Otago at Association football. He leaves a widow, a son and daughter.
