SMALL TOWN MYSTERY
Asey Mayo is by now a well known and popular character among the detectives of fiction, and the new novel, "Octagon House," by Phoebe Atwood Taylor, in which ho appears, will receive a warm welcome. The story Concerns the little town of Quanomet, which had just become famous because of its new post office. The post office, however, provides only a background for what follows when a young woman is found murdered in a garage, and her young sister is suspected of the crime. Asey Mayo comes to the rescue of th» girlj and ib is only his uncanny perceptions which enable him to avert the final catastrophe, and to unipask onc« of tho smoothest villains who ever went unsuspected.
