Mrs. Harold 0. Wiles has returned from a cruise in the Hauraki Gulf. Lady Leys arrived in Auckland yesterday by air from Palrnerston North. Mrs. A. Burton and Mrs. S. Jackson (Sydney) and Miss E. Neil (Matamata) are at the Central Hotel. Mrs. Calvert and -Miss Ronft Calvert, of Cambridge, returned to New Zealand by the Wanganella yesterday. Miss Margaret Eraser, of London, accompanied by Miss Claire Danby, has returned to Auckland irom Rotorua. Mrs. J. Gillies, of Khandallah, who has been the guest of Mrs. T. Joll, of Northcote, returned to Wellington yesterday. Mrs. Leslie Bayly, accompanied by her husband, returned yesterday by the Wanganella from a two months' visit to Australia. Mrs. A. Haworth, of Wanganui, who has been tho guest of Mrs. P. Weight, Vauxhall Road, Devonport, returns home to-day. Mrs. L. E. Sadier, of Sydney, arrived by the Wanganella yesterday. She will be the guest of her sister, Mrs. S. Lewis, of Cambridge. Mrs. M. Hurst, who, with Miss P. Hurst, has beon visiting Wellington for the Easter Conference of the New Zealand Labour Party, returned by the limited express yesterday morning. Mrs. H. B. C. Gordon, of Sydney, and her husband, who have been the guests of Mrs. D. H. A. Niblock, have returned from a visit to Wellington. They will leave on Monday for Sydney by tho Aorangi. Mrs. David Grahaine, of Sydney, with her children Hainisli and Rosemary, will leave to-morrow by the Wanganella on her return to Australia after spending six months with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Manning, in Hamilton. Mrs. J. Dunne (Melbourne), Mrs. H. Johnstone (Timaru), Mrs. J. E. Bain, Miss Ham man and Miss Ailsa Keogh (Sydney), Mrs. B. Morrow and Miss Anne Morrow (Christchurch), Airs. K. Parkinson (England) and Mrs. R. L. Goodo (India) are at tho Grand Hotel, Mrs. W. C. Beaumont, of Devonport. accompanied by Miss Peggy Beaumont and Mr. Beaumont, will leave by the Wanganella to-morrow for Sydney, where they will join the Otranto en route to England. They will visit tho Continent and Iceland, and will return home via tho United States. Tho monthly meeting of the Warkworth Women's Christian Temperance Union was held recently, Mrs. A. Roke presided. Mrs. Hugh Kasper, of Auckland, addressed the meeting on "Methods of the Women's Christian Temperance Union," also on the world's convention, and the result of the repeal of prohibition in tho United States. The Otorohanga Presbyterian Ladies' Guild, Sunday school teachers, and members of the Bible class gave a kitchen evening in honour of the approaching marriage of Miss B. Burrell. Games, competitions and musical items were enjoyed and supper was served by tho ladies of tho parish. The Rev. S. W. Webber, tho Rev. H. W. Payne, and Mr. A. H. Perrott spoke in Miss Burrell's honour Dr. Beryl J. Lawrence, of the Christchurch Hospital, and Dr. B. 0. Quin, formerly of Auckland, and now of the Princess Elizabeth of York Hospital, London, have been granted diplomas in child health by the Royal College of Surgeons, jointly with the Royal College of Physicians, wrote our London correspondent on April 6. The Waiheke Rugby Football Club opened its 19.38 season on Saturday night in the Ostein! Hall and dining room of the Bay View boarding house with a five hundred card tournament anddancQ. The club's president. Mr. H. G. Carter, presided, hnd presented the prizes. There was an attendance of about 150 people from various parts of tho island. The successful card winners were Mrs. A. Neato (Ostend) and Mr. Hunter (Auckland).
