BASKETBALL
Y.W.C.A. TOURNAMENT Seven teams of the newly-formed Y.W.C.A. Junior Basketball Association played a tournament in Iho Drill Hall on Saturday. Before commencing play tho girls elected captains and chose team names and colours as follows: Awntca, green and white, E. Torrence (captain); Bluebird blue and red, E. Patenian; Kiwis, green, M. Josephs; Mannganui, lemon and green. M. Cooke; Pope.ye, bluo and white, J. Manning; Tui, red and green, ,T. Tullet; A rob a,, navy and white. B. Wheeler. After an exciting series of matches results were as ,follows: —Awatens. 1; Maunganuis, 2; Popeyes, 3. The officials were:—Organiser, Miss D. Bates; umpires. Misses M, Roberts, B. Stalker; scorer, Miss P. Baker. OPOTIKI ASSOCIATION [BY TKLEORAI'II —OWN CORRESPONDENT] OPOTIKI, Sunday The following officers were elected at the annual meeting of the Opotiki Basketball Association: —President, Mrs. J. D. Dicker; patroness. Mrs. A. G. Hultquist; vice-presi-dents. Mesdames N. Potts. E. Seville. A. C. Hampton, F. W. Bridger, A. S. de Mon-„ talk; management committee, Mesdames ,T. Dicker. N. Potts, Miss Claridge, Miss Morgan, and the sisters of the convent: treasurer, Miss Eleanor Murray; ncting-secretaries, Misses P. Thompson, E. Debreceny. Mrs. Potts, who resigned from I lie position of president after six years, was presented with a bouquet. -
