New Zealand representation was small. Gold Bod was a bad last in the C. W. Cropper Plate. It was only in tho firat 20yds. that ho showed any dash, giving his trainer and jockey a complete surprise, told Bod does not perform «'$ Jjis best when tho ground is eviyi fclightly wet, but something more t&pi that is necessary to explain his failure. Ajax had xhe race in hand almosv/rnvm the start, and had the measure M S'andava nil tho way. He could h»v<, wen bv u greater margin if it .Mac-' boon 'yvished. Allunga's display in tho A.J.C. Plato •pas disappointing. He enjoyed tho run of th§ race from tho start, but could not produce a finishing run to beat Old Rowley, who was ridden hard all tho way down the straight, to hold the lead lie gained earlier. However, Allunga tired a furlong from home. Gav Knight won the Dangar Handi-
cap under great difficulties, as his / saddle slipped near the half-milo post. The jockey, A. Harvey, had great diihculty in keeping his balance,. ){esults: —
