PIONEER'S FUNERAL
LATE MRS. J, S. GRIERSON The funeral of the late Mrs. Jane Stevenson Griereon at Wairakei on Wednesday afternoon was attended by a large and representative gathering of people from Taupo, Rotorua, Auckland and distant parts of the North Island. The burial took place in the Wairakei Presbyterian churchyard. After a short service at Mrs. Grierson's late residence the funeral procession went to the Wairakei Presbyterian Church, where the service was conducted by the Rt. Rev. W. H. Howes, Moderator of the Presbyterian Generai Assembly of New Zealand, assisted by the Rev. J. G. Laughton, of Taupo, the Rev. J. Carter, the' Rev. D. Carr (Anglican) and the Rev. H. Potatau. Mr. Laughton spoke of the valuable work of Mrs. Grierson in helping to open up the thermal district to tourist traffic. Ho also recalled her generosity to the church and referred to her gift of the land on which the present church stood.
