BETTER TONE IN MARKET ' \ TRADING IN THE SOUTH Business was resumed on the Wellington, Christchurch and Duncdin Stock Exchanges yesterday after the Easter vacation. Tho Auckland Exchange will not resume until Tuesday. In Christchurch the market reopened to a much stronger tone, reflecting the upward movement which occurred on tho Australian Exchanges following an improvement in London. All sections showed strength on last week's closing values. .In banks Commercials of Australia sold better and Unions and English, Scottish and Australians were firmer on the levels. Pastorals had more inquiry and New Zealand Breweries advanced with a market between 44s and 1 44s 9d at tho close. In the miscellaneous section Australian leaders made progress. Broken Hill Proprietary were stronger in dealing at 60s 6d and Electrolytic Zinc ordinary wore also firmer. Coles moved up and Woohvorths were stronger on an ex-dividend basis. Mount JLyells were dealt in at 28s 6cl and 28s 3d and more were offered at the lower price. Tho exchange premium on diviI donds* payable in sterling is included, and allowance is made for British income tax whero necessary. The yield on four per cent Government loans includes redemption.
