THE PENSIONS SCHEME

Sir, —Your correspondent "Too Old at &j," in your issue of April 11, voices one of the most glaring injustices perpetrated by the Labour Government, in all the hurried legislation passed Mr. Savage has been so loud in his insistence that those unable to help themselves should be thought of first, and yet single women have been conspicuously neglected. The letter 1 refer to clearly points out the successive instances, so it is unnecessary for me to p.o over them again, save this last most unfair arrangement of lowering the age of the oldage pension for men bv five years and leaving women as before. Since the. letter appeared I have discussed the matter with several men. and they all unanimously agree that most men like to work to 65, while we nil know women who are completely worn out at 55 after a strenuous life of earning, yet nothing is done to make their lot easier.
