GOLD STERILISATION UNITED STATES DECISION , ' LARGE CREDIT INCREASES (Received April ,19, 5.30 p.m.) WASHINGTON, April IS The Secretary' to the Treasury, Mr. H. Morgenthaiii has announced the abandonment by/ the United States of the gold sterilisation policy. 1 his opens the way for sweeping increases in the available credit. , In future gold acquired by the Government will be poured into credit arteries as needed. The only qualification is that some of the incoming gold may temporarily be placed in the Treasury's working balance, in which fit present are 209,000,000 dollars of free gold.
