DIAMOND WEDDING

OLD HAMILTON COUPLE MR. AND MRS. S. MEACHEM [from ouit own cohhespondent] HAMILTON, Tuesday A pleasant family reunion was held in Hamilton to-day when the diamond wedding of two of the town's bestknown old people, Mr. and Mrs. S. Moachem, of 6(5 Wellington Street, Hamilton East, who were married at Thames by the Rev. R. S. Bunn in 5878, was celebrated. The function was held at the home of their daughter, Mrs. J. Taylor, at 9 Ulster Street.

Mr and Mrs. Meachem have lived in Hamilton for nearly 60 years and for 33 years they .iiave known Mr. and Mrs. James ptlwrwellknown Hamilton residents, who will celebrate their diamond wedding next Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Pome'roy were present at to-day's function.- * Messages of congratulation were received during the day from the the Governor-General, Viscount Galivay, and from the Prime Minister, Mr. Savage. Numerous other telegrams ulso came to hand., among these being one from a friend of Mr. Meachem's whom he met on the sailing vessel William Miles which brought bun to New Zealand m 1362. Other messages came from the Hamilton Orphans Club, of which Mr. Meachem is a lifemember, and from the Waikato Regimental and Hamilton Municipal Band, of which Mr. was bandniastoi for several years. Among the guests present were the Mayor of Hamilton, Mr. J. R. row, who proposed the health of Mr. and Mrs. Meachem, and Mrs. Fow, Mr. and Mrs. J. Tidd and Mr. and Mrs. Poincroy. Members of the family who attended included Mi', and Mrs. AV Turhott. Mr. and Mrs. A. It. Davies, Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Davies, Mrs. L. Ha 11am, Mr. and Mrs. P. S. Meachem, Mrs. G. Satchell Master C. Meachem, Mr. and Mrs. J W lavlor, Mr. and Mrs. J. Taylor and Miss Cora Taylor.
