GOLD NUGGET FOUND WORN SOLES RESPONSIBLE Suffering because of the worn soles of his boots as he stumbled across old alluvial workings at Mulgabbie, near Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, Alfred Blenkinson, a 72-year-old prospector, bemoaned the fact that he had no money to buy a new pair. As he picked his way painfully across the pld .tailings heaps, the scene of many a rich nnd two decades ago, stones pierced the paper-thinness of nis soles. Suddenly he was brought up short with an exclamation of pain as a sharp piece jabbed through. Bending down he extracted from his boot a 2J-oz. nugget of gold worth £2O.
