DEBATING TOUR

TWO AMERICAN NEGROES Arrangements for a debating and lecture tour by two American negroes were completed at the annual meeting of the New Zealand University Students' Association, which was held in Auckland during the Easter vacation. The team comprises Messrs. J. S. Byas.and C. W. Gilton, graduates of Lemoyne College, Tennessee, who will speak in debates, and a' manager, Colonel Boris G. Alexander, head of the department of economics at Lemoyne College. Colonel Alexander, who is a naturalised American citizen, is a White Russian by birth. The team will arrive in Auckland on June 27 and will spend almost a month in the Dominion. Debates will be held against university representatives in Auckland, Palmerston North, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin and lectures will be given to school pupils in these centres and also in Rotorua, Napier, Hastings and Timaru.
