DESIBE OP CZECHS GOOD RELATIONS POLICY NEIGHBOURING REGIMES CONCESSION TO GERMANS By TeleprrapH—Press Association—Copyright (Received April 17, 5.5 p.m.) PRAGUE. April 10 The President of Czechoslovakia, Dr. Edouard Benes, in opening peace celebrations in Parliament said: "We honestly and sincerely seek the best understanding with all our neighbours. Particularly do we believe in good relations with Germany. "However, peace can only be preserved if all regimes refrain scrupulously from interfering, directly or indirectly, with the affairs of a neighbouring State. "Czechoslovakia will do her utmost to relieve the tension in Europe, but strongly and steadfastly will refuse to be impressed by any ideologistic bloc. The forces for peace in Europe are stronger than they seem. "I refuse to consider that an armed conflict is inevitable." Dr. Benes issued a decree announcing the largest amnesty for political prisoners in the history of Czechoslovakia. Sudeten German? will benefit to the extent of about 1000 men.
