The tracks liave received a thorough soaking, but a full morning's work was got through on the inside of the trial grass, which provided remarkably good going. Practically all horses engaged next week were exercised. Knight Commander, who is trained by F. Holmes, ran half a mile in 535. Paper Slipper strode over seven furlongs in 1..32. the last four in 525. Wild Chase, picked up by Lazybones at the live-furlong post, was responsible for an attractive effort over a mile, to record 1.43, the last seven furlongs in 1.30 1-5, and the last four in 52 3-ss. He went exceptionally well on a track to suit him. Lazybones also finished solidl\ T . Good Passage and Scuffle ran five furlongs in 1.5 1-5, the latter being slightly in front. Every Port, Gaoler and Keen Sight finished in that order, the winner taking 52s for the halfmile. Lady Leigh ran five in 1.5 2-5. Disdain recorded 51 3-ss, under a good hold. She appeared to walk off sound, but a division regarding her engagements will not be made until Monday.

He has only one engagement, the Sockburn Handicap, at the meeting. Sovereign Lady strode over a mil# and a-quarter in 2.15. She ran the firsi half-mile in 51s, but took 55 3-5s fo> the last four, owing to her diminutiv# rider easing up on her. Galleon and Rebel Lad took 1.49 foi a mile.
