MAINLY FAIR TO FINE MILD TEMPERATURES ' : The weather report and forecast-for New Zealand issued by the Government meteorologist last evening were as follows ;—An anti-cyclone is now centred east of the North Island. Pressure is relatively low over south-eastern Australia and the first of a series of shallow westerly depressions is commencing to cross the South Island. The forecast is for variable winds with north-east to north-west predominating, light to moderate mainly, but strong at times in the Cook and Fovcaux Strait areas. Seas rather rough to rough at times about Cook and Foveaux Straits, rather . rough north of East Cape, elsewhere slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to strong north-easterly winds and rather rough seas in the northern portion, moderate north to west winds and moderate seas in the southern portion. The weather for the most part is likely to be fair to fine and mild, but some scattered light rains are probable in the extreme north, and later scattered rains developing iu the western and southern districts of the I South Island.

SPECIAL AUCKLAND FORECAST , MAINLY FAIR AND MILI) The Government meteorolorfst issued to the Herald last evening the following special forecast ior the Auckland Province: —East to north-east winds, strong at times at exposed headlands but otherwise light to moderate. The weather is likely to be mainly fair and mild, but with scattered light rains in the far north. Seas rather rough on the east coast, slight to moderate on the west coast. YESTERDAY'S WEATHER Auckland.—Dull weather with a moderate wind from the north-east prevailed yesterdav. The maximum temperature was 7'2 degrees and the minimum was 62 degrees. Barometric pressure was high and steady. Barometer, midnight, steady .. 30.31 in, Midnight, Sunday 30.43 in, Wellington. —The weather was cloudy at times, but otherwise fine and mild I with a moderate to fresh north-westerly i breeze. The minimum temperature oil i Sunday night was 48.7 degrees and the I maximum yesterday 6G.1 degrees.
