POSTERS ON STATUES

ALBERT PARK INCIDENT The sight of yellow posters of the New Zealand University Easter tournament fixed high up on tho statues of Queen Victoria and Sir George Grey in Albert Park aroused protests from many visitors to the park during the week-end, An explanation of tho defacement was made yesterday by the president of the Students' Association of Auckland University College, Mr. H. Halstead. Stickers advertising tho tournament had been issued for distribution, said Mr. Halstead, but a number had got into the hands of unauthorised persons, whose misguided enthusiasm was responsible for tho regrettable incident.
