BOXING
BIG PROGRAMME TO-NIGHT TWO PROFESSIONAL BOUTS The Auckland Boxing Association's splendid double-feature programme arranged for the Town Hall to-niffht is arousing widespread interest. After their excellent displays a fortnight ago both Percy Kelly and Vic. Caltaux will be right out to secure fresh triumphs, but they will both be up against stronger opposition than at the last carnival. Caltaux meets Clarrie Marshall, of Gisborne, a cool-headed lad, with an imposing string of successes in his amateur record. Gisborne enthusiasts are very confident of Marshall's success, and it would seem that Caltaux will have to produce his very best to win. However, after his showing against Don. Johnston, he should make a great fight of it. The light-weight contest of eight threeminute rounds between Tommy Loveridge, of Taranaki, and Percy Kelly is expected to be hard and closely contested. Loveridge is a great stayer, and has knock-out victories over several highly-rated men in his division. He will be a more difficult proposition than Ralph Aitkon, and Kelly will require all his- ringcraft and punch to secure an advantage. Specially selected amateur preliminaries will be staged with this fine double bill, and the spectators can rely upon seeing some fast and exciting bouts. GILDO WINS ON A FOUL At the Brisbane Stadium on Saturday night Young Gildo, 9.1, won from Maxie Richards, 8.12 l / 3 , on a foul in the tenth round. Gildo led by a substantial margin of points up to the time when the Queens- ! lander dropped his opponent with a punch i well below the belt. .After medical examina- ! tion Gildo was declared the winner
