DAIRY VALUES FIRM __ i SPRINGERS SELL FREELY LESS DEMAND FOR STORES While the top values for dairy cattle did not reach the high level of £l4 of last week, the demand for cows and heifers in milk or close to profit was very firm at the Westfield weekly stock sale yesterday. The best realisation was £l' 7s 6d for Shorthorn heifers, with cows of the same breed making up to £ll. A good number of cattle was disposed of at prices ranging from £8 15s upward. The demand was chiefly from dairymen and at times the bidding was keen. Tho sales in the store section lacked the liveliness which has been evident for several months. The majority of graziers are awaiting further rains and recovery of paddocks before entering upon heavy stocking. The demand for boner cattle was also less pronounced, this being duo to the congestion at some freezing works, Which are handling herd culls in fairly large numbers. I'ohlen, Matamata, averaged the satisfactory price of £0 2s.
