OPENING AT ONEWHERO [.FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT] TUAKAU, Sunday The Onewhero Golf Club officially opened its season yesterday afternoon, the president, Mr. P. G. R. Taylor, declaring the course available for play and Mrs. Taylor driving the first ball, after which a Canadian mixed foursomes match was held. All taking part spent a most enjoyable afternoon, although rain, which was welcome for other purposes, at times made conditions difficult. „ Mrs. Haynes and S. Haynes won the match. The next best were Mrs. Taylor and P. Taylor, Mrs. V. Kingston and E. Morpeth, Mrs. Coles and R. J. Glasgow. TE AWAMUTU'S OPENING [from our own corbesponhent] TE AWAMUTU, Sunday Upward of 200 people, including visitors from Hamilton, Cambridge, Te Kuiti, Otorohanga, Pokuru, Ohanpo and Korakonni, attended the opening of the Te Awamutu Golf Club. The president, Dr. Blundell, in welcoming the visitors, said that it was very pleasing to know that everybody was taking such a keen interest in the clnb. He added that the committee was to be congratulated on the condition of the course, only a little rain being required to make it in first-class condition. , , , . T Opportunity was taken to present Mr. J. Brown, last year's secretary, with a small token in appreciation of his services to the C ' U A mixed Canadian foursomes tournament was played, and it resulted in a win for Mr H Andrew and Miss I, Blackburn. HUNTLY CLUB'S MEETING [FKOM OUR O~N COnRKSrONDENT] HUNTLY, Sunday There was a large attendance at the annual meeting of the Hnntly Golf Club, Mr. D. E. Hart presiding. Before business commenced the president referred to the loss the club had sustained in the death of Mr. G. one of its keenest members and supporters. The balance-sheet showed a satisfactory credit and the past season was recorded as being one of the most successful in the club's existence. Sixteen new members were

enrolled for the coming season. The opening day was fixed for April 10 and members o;' surrounding clubs were invited to participate in playing mixed foursomes.
