CONTROL OF BANANAS

THE NIAGARA'S SHIPMENT , The first shipment of bananas to be handled under Government control is due. to arrive in Auckland from Fiji on Monday by the Niagara,- the regulations in regard to the importation of bananas having come into force yesterday. Bananas will continue to come into the country through the recognised channels and the Government is taking over fruit that is on order by merchants. At present there is to be no interference with quantities, the Government merely supervising distribution.
