LOW PRICE FOR DANISH \ Although quiet conditions still prevail on the London butter market, choicest salted New Zealand shows an improvement of 6d per cwt. over last week's quotations. The current price for New Zealand is 115s per cwt., on a par with Australian, compared with 114s fid a week ago. Earlier in" the week the price dropped as low aB 113s. Danish has shown a steep, decline of 6s fid on the week. Current quotations are from 113s to 114s per cwt., the lowest level since June of last year, when Danish was quoted at 112s. Cheese also shows a slight improvement on the week, current levels being 3d per cwt. higher. Australian is fairly steady, the price remaining about the same. A Press Association message sent from London on Thursday states that butter is quiet. Danish is quoted at 113s to 114s per'ewt.; choicest salted Australian and New Zealand, 115s; unsalted, New Zealand, 119s to 120s; Australian, 118s to 119s. Cheese: New Zealand, white and coloured, 69s 6d; Australian, 68s. THE (CITY MARKETS POOR DEMAND FOR APPLES POTATOES IN HEAVY SUPPLY Apples remained in comparatively poor demand at the City Markets yesterday, although some of the best dessert varieties were available. Pears sold j well and there was a fair demand for Te Kauwhata and choice hothouse grapes. There was a good inquiry for oranges and mushrooms and Queensland pineapples, which were in poor condition, sold at 'fovv prices. The first shipment of bananas to be handled under Government control will arrive on Monday by the Niagara from Fiji. Heavy supplies of potatoes and pumpkins were disposed of at cheap rates and kumaras were also plentiful, the rates remaining about thcs same.'While cabbages were still in short supply and dear, beans were very plentiful and only the best quality stringless variety was wanted, the others being unsaleable. Carrots were plentiful and fairly cheap in contrast to the same period last year when they were scarce. The prices for celery were a little lower, while there were fewer green peas, firmer prices ruling. ' ' ■
