TRUCKS LEAVE LINE

WHARF TRACK DAMAGED 60YDS. OF RAILS BUCKLED [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] NEW PLYMOUTH, Thursday Heavily laden with sulphur, four railway trucks left the track and buckled the rails on the Moturoa Wharf last night. Sixty yards of line were damaged, but work on the wharf was not delayed. All four trucks were replaced on the line to-day. A goods train was carrying sulphur from the motor vessel Sandhamn,, and the last four waggons were about 60 yards from the short end of the wharf when they left the rails, twisting sections of the track beyond repair. The whole of the damaged line had to be taken up and relaid. The speed of the train was too slow to cause the trucks to capsize. No damage was done to the wharf.
