CAGING WILD BIRDS
Sir, —"A.E." and "Against Bars" are to be commended for their servioo in apprising the public of this cruel practice. What pleasure anyone can find in such cruelty is beyond my comprehension. Had I the power attributed to fairy-folk, my magic wand should be waved in punishment over all humans who were found guilty of illtreating God's dumb creatures — whether bird or beast. Until their lesson had been thoroughly learnt, such humans would be compelled to change places with the objects of their cruelty. Unfortunately, such a perfect cure is beyond my power to administer. I trust, however, that those who have the authority to act in this matter will do so speedily and ensure once and for all, for the remaining wild birds of this beautiful country, the glorious freedom God intended should be theirs. Bird-lover.
