LOCAL ELECTIONS
MOUNT EDEN MAYORALTY SELECTION OF CANDIDATE The nomination of Mr. R. J. Mills to contest the Mayoralty of Mount Eden at the forthcoming local body elections was decided upon by a meeting of the Mount Eden Ratepayers and Householders' Association executive last night. Mr. T. McNnb is tho present Mayor of the borough. Mr. Mills has been a member of the council for the last nine years and deputy-mayor for the last three. He has been one of the representatives of outside local bodies on the Metropolitan Fire Board since its inception and for eight years he has been a member of tho Maungawhau School Committee, being chairman for the past two years
NEWMARKET COUNCIL MEMBERS SEEK RE-ELECTION The intention of the members of the Newmarket Borough Council to contest the forthcoming local body elections was announced last ni<rht bv the Mayor, Mr. S. Donaldson. The sitting members are Messrs. F. Appleton. .1". Kav, H. McK. Geddcs, R. E. Newport, R. Phi I pot. H. E. Clark, C. G. Rhodes. T. J. Watts and C. H. K. Mountain, and all except Mr. Mountain, who is absent from New Zealand, have decided to offer themselves for re-election.
DARGAVILLE contest MR. R. GIBSON TO STAND [by telkgratii—own correspondent] DA KG A VILLE, Thursday It is announced by Mr. Raymond Gibson, formerly of Kaikoura, who has been practising as a solicitor here for six years, that he will contest tho Dargaville Mayoralty, He has been a member of tho Borough Council for three years.
