RELIGION IN SCHOOLS

Sir, —As the "reverend gentleman" referred to in Mr. W. J. YVeruham 8 letter under the above heading 1 would like to point out what he must have known when he wrote, that the Jubilee Committee cannot be held responsible for what 1 said in my address at the service to which he refers, and that therefore any expressions of appreciation Mr. Weruham desires to make should be addressed to me personally, and not directed against tho Committee, of whose excellent work praises are heard on all sides. ithout any intention of entering into a controversy on the subject, 1 cannot refrain from expressing surprise at Mr. Wernham's surprise that a religious service should be religious. Hector Isiikrwood The Vicarage, Northeote.
