CRASH INTO SEA
LARGE BRITISH BOMBER TRAGEDY AT MANOEUVRES LIVES OF SIX MEN LOST (Received March 20, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, March 29 Bursting into flames, a giant Royal Air Force flying-boat with a crew of five which was taking part in combined naval and aerial exercises, crashed into the sea near Brest. A journalist, Mr. A. E. Barlow, who was observing the manoeuvres on behalf of the journal, The Aeroplane, was also on board. The machine fell close to the steamer Consett, and after an explosion it sank in two minutes. The Consett launched boats and they picked up the body of Mr. Barlow, but the bodies of the crew have not been recovered. The machine was a Stranraer long-distance bomber.
