DISTURBANCES MADE
RESIDENTS OF MOTOR CAMP COMPLAINTS AT TE AWAMUTU [FROM OCR owx correspondent] TE AWAMUTU, Tuesday Complaints of drunken revels, obscene language and disturbances at the Selwyn Park motorists' camp were made at a meeting of the Te Awamutu Domain Board last night. The chairman, Mr. G. Spinley, said that, owing to the acute housing sliorttage in Te Awamutu, a number of families were living in tents at the camp until such time as they were able to secure homes. The majority of these families were decent, respectable people, but lately it appeared that an undesirable element had crept in. Complaints had been received that the offenders, who were limited to two or three, were participating in drunken bouts, which extended late into the uiglit, and were creating disturbances and annoying the other campers. "Such a state of affairs cannot be tolerated," said Mr. Spinle\\ "I suggest that the board ascertain its powers to eject the responsible parties. I understand the police make frequent inspections of the camp, but they have been unable to obtain sufficient evidence to convict those responsible." It was decided to write to the UnderSecretary of Lands inquiring what powers the board possessed to eject undesirables, who were residing on public grounds, and also to ask the police to I undertake a more strict supervision.
