MOTORING TRAGEDY

CAR AND BUS COLLIDE THREE PERSONS KILLED MOTHER'S SAD DISCOVERY (Received March 27, 10.30 p.m.) MELBOURNE, March 27 Three persons were killed and 10 injured, five seriously, in a collision between a bus and a car on a narrow culvert, near Rutherglen on Saturday night. All the persons killed were travelling in the car. They were:— Constable William C'antrell, of Albury, and his wife, and Mr. Noel Weatherby, of Albury, a journalist, whose wife was among those injured. A pathetic feature of the tragedy was that Constable Cantrell's mother left Sydney on Saturday to stay with him, and was unaware of the deaths of her son and daughter-in-law until her arrival at Albury. The bus driver rode nine miles for assistance on a cycle carried on the roof of the bus.
