TRIAL BY NAZIS
FORMER CHANCELLOR GREAT DEVELOPMENT PLAN ECONOMIC RECONSTRUCTION By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received March 27, 7.20 p.m.) VIENNA. March 27 "Dr. Schuschnigg and his advisers will be tried owing to their intention to use his plebiscite for trickery," declared Field-Marshal Goering amid the frantic cheering of 2000 hearers during a two and a-half hours speech. He announced a programme of 17 points for the economic reconstruction of Austria within the German four-year plan.
The programme includes the exploitation of water power, forests, copper and manganese mines; a search for new mines and oilfields; the development of the chemical industry; the erection of a cellulose wool factory in Vienna; the construction of 775 miles of motor roads linked up with the Gorman system; the building of barracks and aerodromes, and a big harbour on the Danube at Vienna; the modernising of the railways and the elimination of narrow gauges; assisting farmers with credits, and land drainage. These measures will provide 100 per cent relief for unemployment. Field-Marshal Goering violently attacked the Jews, declaring that Vienna must be freed of its 300,000 Jews and become for ever a German city. "I have commissioned Herr Willielm Keppler, Heich Commissar for Austria, to see that all Jewish businesses are taken over legally."
The speaker emphasised Germany's achievements in making the treaties of Versailles and St. Germain into myths, adding: "Germany has respect for all Powers, but they do not love us; on the contrary, they do not expect us to love them. Anyhow, I would rather have their respect than their love."
Germany's Air Force was not only equal to, but superior to any air force in the world, said Field-Marshal Goering. "We want peace," be added, "but if wo are compelled to make war our enemies will feel the full might of our 75,000,000 people." Baron Froehlichtal, a high official at the Chancellery, has committed suicide.
