FISHING DEATH
FATAL EXCITEMENT WIFE'S TRAGIC DISCOVERY SCHNAPPER STILL ON HOOK [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN" CORRESPONDENT J NEW PLYMOUTH, Wednesday With a fish still on his line Mr. Joseph Winiki, aged 44 years, was found dead on the Nikotahi Rock near the Port of New Plymouth this morning. He had been suffering from heart trouble for some months and apparently in the excitement of landing the fish he collapsed. Mr. Winiki was known widely as an expert sportsman, more particularly for his successes in gun club shooting than for his prowess as a fisherman. He left home last night for the port and when he had not returned iu the early hours of this morning his wife and only daughter became anxious and a search was made. The body of Mr. Winiki was found leaning against a rock with a large schnapper still on the hook at his feet. The deceased served in the Great War and had been in business as a tailor at New Plymouth.
