Spurious Films of Early Silent: Days
A revival of early Charlie Chaplin comedies, masterpieces of the old "silent" days, has led to the widespread faking of the actor's films. Film historians say that scores of these revived films are spurious and that a dozen genuine "old Chaplins" have vanished. The fakes are stated to be photographic copies of genuine early Keystone comedies of the Arbuckle, Mable Normand, Ford Sterling and Mack Sennett era.
