r PHIO most expensive 1 are-creams and - 1 - lotions to bo bought frequently contain essences and juices obtained trom simple garden plants, herbs and (lowers, so it is worth while to know a little about the beauty-a dim: qualities of soinn of them, so that one can draw 011 one's own garden whenever possible. For freckles, try rubbing in a mixture oi' ripe tomato juice and lemon juice in equal parts, and quite possibly you will be giving the skin valuable vitamins into the bargain—vitamins that are said to be incorporated in the latest overseas face creams. Both tomato and cueum ber give relief and help with bleaching in cases of sunburn. A rosemary hair-wash makes the hair as glossy as any brillinntine, and is at its best with eolden hair. Simply boil three or four sprays with a quart of water for five minutes and allow it to cool. When the hair is' washed and rinsed, pour this lotion into the roots, rub it well in. and allow to dry on the hair. So it goes on—simple lotions and creams from the kitchen; little attentions that soon become as much a habit as the regular tooth-brush drill.
