FARMING EQUIPMENT
QUESTION OF SUITABILITY CANADIAN VISITOR'S INTEREST Farm lands in New Zealand and Australia will interest Mr. T. A. Russell, of Toronto, who arrived by the Monterey yesterday to- spend a fortnight in the Dominion. Mr. Russell is tho president of a farm implement manufacturing firm, with branches in New Zealand and Australia, and it is his purpose to study farming conditions for the supply of apparatus suitable to Dominion conditions.
While many of the machines used in various countries were the same, Mr. Russell said, the fact remained that there were different characteristics and problems pertaining to each land. It was desirable that the farmer should be supplied with equipment best suited to his particular territory. Referring to Canadian conditions Mr. Russell said there was a mild recession in business at present, but not to anything like the extent of that being experienced in America. The motor-car business, particularly, was not as active as it was this time a year ago. Although it was hard to foresee events, he thought Canada would not be subjected to the severe setback suffered in America. Mr. Russell, who visited New Zealand 33 years ago, will attend the Sydney Royal Show as a representative of the Canadian National Exhibition authorities, and after a month ill Australia will visit South Africa before his return to Canada.
