FIRM MARKET TONE SOME IMPROVEMENT SHOWN (Received March 10, 8.6 p.m.) SYDNEY, March 10 On the Sydney Stock Exchange today the tone was firm, and the tendency of prices to move irregularly was less noticeable. Base metal shares were not actively traded, but most issues improved their position. Sales included:—

The Melbourne Stock Exchange was steady to-day, with a better tone in the industrial section. There was a steady demand for banks and selected mining issues were active, but other shares were quiet.
