STORMY VOYAGE

AUXILIARY YACHT MAHORA GALE OFF THE COAST ARRIVAL AT NAPIER [BY" TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT]! NAPIER. Wednesday High seas and heavy squalls were encountered by the auxiliary motoryacht Mahora between East Cape and Gisborne on Friday and Saturday last when she was en route from Auckland to Wellington. The Mahora is at present at Napier, having put in to port after her arduous experience. The vessel, which is in the charge of Mr. J. W. Wra\, was recently purchased in Auckland by Mr. L. V. Martin. of "Wellington, and is being taken to Wellington by him and Messrs. Wray and G. Roberts. The small boat left Auckland on Wednesday last and spent that night at Charles Cove. Coromandel. From there an excellent passage was made across the Bay of Plenty to Hicks Bay, which was reached on Friday. After rounding East Cape the boat ran into a southerly blow and from then on down the coast the crew had a hard struggle fighting a gale, with huge waves breaking over the boat. They made Poverty Bay safely and sought shelter under Young Nick's' Head. Uncertain as to the conditions at the entrance to Gisborne Harbour, the crew decided to make a run for it and reached port without further trouble. Gisborne was left at 5 p.m. on Monday, and aftei experiencing variable winds the Mahora berthed at Napier. The journey to Wellington will be continued this week.
