DAVIS CUP TEAM
Sir, —It is to be hoped that the 1 New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association adheres to its original decision about sending a Davis Cup team away. It would be a great pity if a. lot of money were wasted for that purpose. The members of a team from this country would have absolutely no chance of surviving even the third" round. A lot of people say the experience would be of great value. No doubt. But why send a team 12,000 miles for experience, when, for a journey of 1200 miles, a team could be sent to' Australia three years running, and for the same money as one trip to Europe. In Australia they would get all the experience they wanted in the various State championships played there. * I do not know the cost of senda team to Europe, but 1 should say it would be at least £ISOO. I am sure most of the Continental teams would appreciate an liors d'oeuvrc costing that much. Which is all our team would be to them. . Tennis Fan.
