CITY'S HOSPITALITY HOPES OF ANOTHER VISIT "It is -with much regret that we depart from your beautiful city and hope that we may have the privilege of again visiting you in the not too far distant future," said Captain R. W. Mathewson, commander of the United States cruiser Louisville, in a letter to the Mayor, Sir Ernest Davis, yesterday, when he asked that the sincere thanks of the captain, officers and crew of the cruiser bo conveyed to the citizens of Auckland for the many kindnesses and courtesies extended to them during their fitay in the city. Captain Mathewson concluded with best wishes for the continued success and happiness of the citizens of Auckland. Regret that the stay of the Louisville in Auckland had been so brief was expressed by tho Mayor in replying to Captain Mathewson. "It is our hope also," he said, "that on somo future occasion, not too long delayed, it will be possible for the Louisville again to visit Auckland. On behalf of tho corporation and citizens of Auckland I wish you God-speed and a safe return to your homeland." MESSAGES TO -LORD GAL WAY APPRECIATION OF COURTESIES [BY TEI/EGRAni —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Wednesday Tho Governor-General, Viscount Galwav, has received the following radio message from Captain R. W. Mathewson, of the United States cruiser Louisville: "On departing from New Zealand the captain and ship's company of the Louisville desire to thank you for your kind greeting of welcome and for the many courtesies extended during our most enjoyable visit. We take with us pleasant memories of our stay, and all hope soon to have the privilege of an early return.." His Excellency also received the following message from Captain P. Auphan, of the French cruiser Jeanne d'Arc:—" On leaving Now Zealand waters I wish to assure Your Excellency of the pleasant memories of their stay carried away by all on board tho Jeanne d'Arc, and convoy to Your Excollenoy my warmest thanks."
