LYCEUM CLUB CIRCLE REMUERA HOME VISITED ENJOYABLE AFTERNOON An opportunity of viewing the valuable ornaments and paintings at the homo of Miss E. Vaile, Arney Road, Rcmuera, was given to members of the arts and crafts circle of the Lyceum Club yesterday afternoon, when they wore the guests of Miss Vailo. Members first viewed tho treasures in the house, after which they were served ten in tho dining room. A presentation was made to Mrs. L. T. Rapson, a member of the circle, who will leave next Tuesday for England. The presentation was made by tho convener, Dr. Gladys Rowley, who later also thanked Miss Vaile for her hospitality. 'I he art work which was on view for the visitors included a water colour of Waiwera by the deaf and dumb artist, Sharp, a water colour by Proctor, and etchings and oil paintings by Miss Maude Vaile. Wood carving, tho work of tho hostess, was of particular _ interest to the visitors, who admired many articles of furniture beautifully carved. Some of the ornaments were both rare and exquisite and included lustres finished with hand-painted miniatures, Venetian goblets, vases in Bristol glass, an alabaster xirn dated 3866 and a vase of very heavy crystal over 100 years old.
